ABOUT HOTEL FINANCE LAB
Built from inside hotel finance.
Hotel Finance Lab was shaped by practical experience inside hotels, not by observing hospitality from the outside.
WHY HFL EXISTS
Hotel finance sits between numbers, systems and operations.
These three areas are often treated separately — a finance function here, a systems project there, operations somewhere else. Hotel Finance Lab exists to work across that intersection, where reporting problems usually begin.
EXPERIENCE FROM INSIDE THE HOTEL
Experience across finance, operations and systems.
- Hotel finance leadership
- Management reporting and USALI
- Budgeting, controlling and month-end
- Hotel systems and data flows
- Operational processes
- Working with GMs, owners and operational teams
WHAT THAT EXPERIENCE CHANGES
Three perspectives that shape how we approach a problem.
Finance context
We understand reporting logic, source data and reconciliations — and what information finance directors, owners and operational managers actually use.
Operational context
We understand the daily reality behind the data, so a proposed change has to work in the day-to-day rhythm of the hotel, not only on paper.
Systems context
We know how PMS, POS and accounting data actually moves — the mappings, interfaces, source-to-report flow and manual handoffs — so requirements stay practical.

FOUNDER
A specialist practice built on hotel finance experience.
Hotel Finance Lab was founded by a finance leader who spent years running hotel finance functions across different properties and operating models, and repeatedly saw the same gap between the numbers, the systems that produce them and the daily operation. HFL was created to connect those areas in practical hotel finance work.

- USALI reporting
- Finance-function stabilisation and redesign
- Hotel systems and automation
HOW HFL WORKS WITH CLIENTS
Experienced enough to recognise patterns. Curious enough not to assume.
Experience helps identify patterns faster. But every hotel still has to be understood in its own context — its systems, its people and the reasons its processes developed the way they did.
SELECTED PRINCIPLES
- 01Practical over theoretical.
- 02Built around the hotel, not the tool.
- 03Better processes should be easier to maintain.
